About

Occidental Arts and Ecology Center is a nonprofit research, demonstration, and community organizing center located on 80 acres in Sonoma County, California. We support diverse communities including schools, public agencies, Native American tribes, and social justice organizations to design and implement regenerative systems at regional and local levels. Our work focuses on ecological literacy, permaculture, biointensive horticulture, restoration ecology, and traditional ecological knowledge. We operate a USDA-certified organic plant nursery specializing in open-pollinated perennials, rare food crops, and habitat plants. We host courses, retreats, and events to foster resilience and social change, and serve as a retreat hub for networks working toward ecological and social justice. Our mission is to empower communities to create sustainable, resilient, and just futures through education, advocacy, and hands-on projects.
