About
UCSC Farm & Garden is a research, education, and public service program at the University of California Santa Cruz dedicated to sustainable organic farming practices. We operate the 21-acre certified organic UCSC Farm and the Alan Chadwick Garden on campus, both serving as training and research sites for students, staff, and faculty. Our facilities support agroecological research, experiential learning, and community engagement in sustainable food systems. We manage historic sites like the Cowell Ranch Hay Barn and Cowell Coffee Shop to promote food security and ecological stewardship. Our work advances climate-resilient farming, supports local food initiatives, and fosters equitable, sustainable agriculture through participatory research and land stewardship.
