Wild Idea Buffalo Co., founded in 1997 by Dan O’Brien, is the first Regenerative Organic Certified® bison meat and leather company in the U.S. They field-harvest buffalo across prairie landscapes using a mobile processing plant, ensuring humane, low-stress harvest directly on the land. Operating from Rapid City, SD and Hermosa, SD—the mobile unit travels to the herd. Certified grass-fed, USDA Organic, and AGW Grassfed/Welfare Approved, they process ~800 animals/year via USDA-inspected facility (#V46601). The company sells steaks, roasts, sausages, organ meats, pet treats, and leather goods online and to wholesale channels.
